The Biggest System Update Ever™ reminds me a LOT of World of Warcraft.
In fact, how the Power points system has changed over the years is exactly like what happened in WoW for the talents trees.
Vanilla, a limited amount of point. Then, as the time went on, we get more and more points to spend (in WoW, because of extra levels, in MH because they simply added more). Until the day Blizzard decided to change the system for a very limited talent system.
"Less points, more fun!"
It was about 5 years ago and I quit playing WoW at that time. Not because of the new system, even if at the time, I didn't liked the change.
Now we have exactly the same thing happening in MH.
So I'm sure a few people here was playing WoW at that time. How did it felt like? Did you, in the end, enjoyed the change? I'm looking forward the new system, because now I know that having to put a mandatory 20 points in a skill isn't different that having to simply unlock the skill. On the other side, I'm concerned with the limited 8 powers we can use at any time.
I fear for the Omega system. I hope it won't be the exact same thing (unlocking a talent instead of spending X points in it), because I don't always put all the avaible points in each nodes I use. Yes, sometimes I only put a 10/20 points in meltface. But thing is... I'm sure this is what will happen too. They will change the 10.000 omegas points into a X Omegas points were you'll unlock the omegas nodes at full. You won't be able to 10/20 Meltface. It'll either be you have Meltface or not.
"Less points, more fun!"
In the end, all this changes make me more and more think of a console port (especially the limited 8 skills, perfect for a gamepad). Everything looks like it's made for an easier time with a gamepad (less tedious talent system, I'm sure a less tedious Omega system), no more additional power bars, no more specific-break-CC powers etc.
I don't know if all of that is for the better or the worse. We'll see.
