Gear Section is outdated, When I try to update it I get a notification ''your post is awaiting from approval", so I decided to throw together 2 mh.info builds-> Fighting Spider - Spitting Spider

Hello Spider-Fans!

Since I'm doing a lot of theorycrafting and number crunching on Spider-Man's Fighting Spider and Spitting Spider Spec, I thought some people may be interested in some min/maxing so I decided to share the results with the community.

This won't be an in-depth guide, I'm focusing more on itemization and less on the actual gameplay.

The data that I'll share comes from my Spider-Man's spreadsheet, which is more accurate than any spreadsheet you can find in these forums because it's built around his skillset, so I can tell with low margin of error how much DPS he gains from tricky stats like Attack Speed.

Ok, let's get to it.

I. Power Point Distribution

  • Fighting Spider

This is the skill distribution

As you may have noticed, there are 43 free points.

Now you can make some choices :

  • Leaping Assault : I'm sure you are all thinking "Yo, no max Leaping Assault? Whatca been smoking, dude?". Truth is, Leaping Assault got hammered hard after the review
The cooldown went from 4s to 8s AND its base damage was lowered AND it lost the ranged tag. In a single target rotation, it's a bordeline DPS gain, it mostly depends on your stats, if you have high AS, it's gonna be a DPS loss since its animation can't be hasted thus it scales negatively with AS but if you have high CDR/BR/BDR, it's gonna be better since it scales higher than other power due to the autocrit mechanic.

  • Spider-Slam : A decent trash cleaner, it has no use in a single target rotation.

  • Web Spray : You are gonna use it anyway for vulnerability application.. so you might as well max it, right?

  • Web Yank : Decent source of CC, however, I do not recommend using it in a single target rotation.

  • Web-Swinging : YES! The damn Flight! If none of the option above satisfy your playstyle, flying faster is always good! Plus it has the coolest animation of the whole game so it's a double win.

Personally, I went with Leaping Assault+Web Spray (and Leaping Assault+Web-Swinging on Spec n2), while Leaping Assault isn't that great in a single target rotation, having a bursty AoE is always handy.

This is how much these skill contributes to your total DPS

This is a distribution based on how much damage comes from the differents tags (Melee, Ranged, DoT). Dodge based is basically how much damage comes from the skill that scales with Dodge.

  • Spitting Spider

This is the skill distribution

As you may have noticed, there are 25 free points.

Now you can make some choices :

  • Leaping Assault : If you want an extra burst in your rotation, Leaping Assault is a good tool, I wouldn't suggest using it in a single target rotation tho. I don't like using melee power when I use ranged heroes so I decided to skip it.

  • Rapidfire Webs : Great clearing tool, if you need more sustain AoE, Rapidfire Webs is the way to go, plus it looks cool. Truth is, Web Spray is everything we need for clearing, but if for some reason you don't like to spam it, Rapidfire Webs is the alternative.

  • Web 'Em All : It's just like Rapidfire Webs, it deals slightly more damage but has no extra dodge while channeling attached to it.

  • Web Swinging : YES! The damn Flight! If none of the option above satisfy your playstyle, flying faster is always good! Plus it has the coolest animation of the whole game so it's a double win. (copy-paste ftw)

Personally, I went with Rapidfire Webs and leftovers in Web Swinging. The animation of Rapidfire is too good to pass up :P

This is how much these skill contributes to your total DPS

This is a distribution based on how much damage comes from the differents tags (Ranged, Area, DoT). Dodge based is basically how much damage comes from the skill that scales with Dodge.

Spitting Spider's DPS is roughly 20% lower than Fighting Spider's DPS. I think you can actually weave either Rapidfire Webs/Web 'Em All to gain a bit more DPS but for the purpose of this guide, I'll pretend that weaving doesn't exist. Sorry!
