The case for the Apocalypse Node.

A couple of caveats before I begin... 1 - I have been a Generalist all of my gaming career (tabletop or otherwise). This means I look for a well rounded character as opposed to filling a role or playstyle. So, ttk/ttl are not really an issue for me. 2 - up until the recent game changes even I consider Norn the Apocalypse Node (as well as the Norn Stones) viable for only summoner hybrids and tri-source power builds.

let's start with a deeper discussion of my #2 caveat above. Recently, Gaz. added several things to the game or changed other things. For instance, 10K omegas means that some people actually have "extra omegas" especially considering the diminishing returns of crit. and brut. adds. So, using the incremental change of the Apocalypse Node suddenly makes more sense because you want to approach but not go over that threshold. Similarly, Blessings have recently been changed and Hela no goes over that threshold. However, the newly added Odin's Blessing proc. gives another incremental change with the +1 to all stats. Dynamic Scaling means that a level 30 can play with a level 60. However, just in case it does not work right, this means that the L30 hero needs every advantage possible. Since farming gear may not be an option, it is far easier to put 5K omegas (YES, this means that you must have that many but I would have thought that was implied in "extra omegas" as well as why are you even considering the node when you only have 3K omegas).

Since I just mentioned gearing above, we will move there next. There are several items that are easily available in the now opened up (okay, a recent game change as well but..) Hightown with the access to all. All of the imposter Skrull medallions have some sort of stat. proc. This means that you can rely less on omega nodes to bring a stat up. Same is true with a couple of the uniques - especially Skrull's Mighty Weapon (a slot 1) - making even less of a need to spend omegas on a stat up. However, since you get an add to ALL stats, this allows for you pad defense as well as shore up offense all in one shot. While this may seem like a contradiction, the key word here is ALL. So, you can still spend any omegas above/after the 5k on a single stat. raise or you can spend omegas on more base damage or whatever. At this point, though, you get +x to health, +Y to damage, etc. all with one purchase - the Apocalypse node.

When you add Odin's Proc., Norn Stones, you get around +6 to all stats (Thanks @ Remilla for the correction) because INT and ENERGY are not currently in game (one of those may change with the coming powers restructure) and +10 to FGT, STR, SPD and DUR stats. This gets around to the final point. Once again, the word ALL. What does Captain America need with +10 to INT and ENERGY? I will admit that the answer is not much. However, once again, there is still an incremental change to several important secondary stats as part of these two increases. INT adds spirit and XP as well as crit. rating and damage. This is the not much part ENERGY adds nothing to Cap. Ultimately, it comes down to what do you have available (omegas, gearing, etc.) and how do you want to spend your omega points. IF you are looking for easy - 5k with one click - the Apocalypse Node is it. Similarly, if you already have gear with crit. and brut., you may want the incremental add that the Apocalypse Node provides.

as suggested by @stevettsf and with some math help from @whynot, I make an addition to my argument. From the Mutation panel, you take Angel node (90) in order to get access to Warpath node and get +4 fighting (4X225=900;990 total). Then, go to Molecular Adjustment and spend 50 to get Terrigen Crystals. This gets you access to Antigenesis, Amphogenesis and Terrigenesis. It is 1100 for +1 in each node. So, you can get +4 to INT, ENERGY, DUR, SPD and STR for 4400. At this point, you have the 4200 for Apocalypse (okay not quite 5k but...), 4450 for Terrigen and 990 for Warpath for a total of 9640. Not quite 10K but it still gives you +14 to each stat. Finally, IF you do not need ENERGY and INT as mentioned above, you can just put more points into Warpath and Terrigenesis. Once again, this makes spending points and making incremental change rather easy.

Also, if you have heroes that lose health - either by being squishy or some secondary mechanic - you can spend 115 under Radioactive Origins (taking Harpy and Hulk) in order to access Red Hulk. This gets you some damage and +4 INT for a total of 835 or +5 INT for 1015 (as opposed to 850 for Antigenesis). Similarly, if you do not mind losing attack speed, under Psionics in the middle, you spend 75 to get access to Supreme Intelligence. It is -15 attack speed for +1 INT but it is only 180 (as opposed to 200 for Antigenesis. This gets you +4 to INT (with a -4% to attack speed) for 795 (as opposed to 850).
