I know there have already been a lot of different threads about the drop rate of the various AoS event items, but this one’s a little different. Most of those have been about the overall drop rate being low or whatever, and while I’d say it is it isn’t problematically so, at least in my experience. I’ve been grinding fairly rigorously in the last six days and had 124 drops (there’s exactly one guaranteed potion per drop and I haven’t used any of them so I added them up) so I’d say that’s pretty fair. The interesting part comes when you look at the other stuff I’ve gotten in those drops and how many of each.

Overall, it’s a fairly reasonable spread. Yeah, The Nine Heads, Top Secret HYDRA Training Manual and SHIELD Silver Spotlight seem a tad underrepresented, but whatever, right? I’m sure these things are weighted somehow. But in 124 drops I’ve gotten none of the Advanced SHIELD Motion Analyzers?! Something doesn’t seem right there.
My first thought was that they’d decided not to include them for some reason. It wouldn’t be the first time something on Test Center never made it to the live servers. But then I saw other people on the forums saying they’d gotten them and I wasn’t sure what to think any more.
So my question is this: are they really that rare? And if not, is there some trick to getting them or does RNGesus just hate me with a deep and abiding passion? (Trick question, I know RNGesus hates me. snork ) Or, and this is some serious tinfoil hat territory here, does everyone have ‘that one drop’, different from everyone else’s, that the game just doesn’t seem to want to let them have? If so, that would imply that drops are weighted differently per player somehow and I’m not sure I’m ready to wrap my brain around that.
Oh, and I know a lot of people have complained about all the Blue Boxes but I, for one, am thankful for them for one simple reason. No matter how jaded you are, it’s incredibly cool to open the umpteenth box, barely paying attention, and suddenly have three different Achievements pop up on your screen at once! I was one Any Hero Unique (Kiss of the Viper, to be exact) short of the ‘Arm Yourself’ Achievement, which was the last one I needed for ‘The Collector’ Achievement, which gave me my tenth title, unlocking the ‘Title Holder’ Achievement. If I hadn’t been so stunned I would have gotten a screen cap and this would have been an entirely different thread. LOL
