[Feedback] Is Wolverine the best at what he does in CDRs ?

"THE BEST AT WHAT HE DOES (dying?)" - A troll

I tested some CDRs with a bleed build on our favourite Logan. I won't lie to you, this guy has some serious issues and is quite outdated but still he's able to run CDRs, at least as long as he doesn''t have to soak up too much damages...
Bad news he's awfully outdated and quite clunky, good news his uniques have been reviewed and so he's now cheaper to gear.

1. Wolverine assets

His best asset is Feral Roar. 12s fear is actually what Wolverine is the best at, until some QoL hits him badly and nerf this i guess (remember the Hawkeye's cryo arrow ?). Max this if you're having trouble at surviving, you can deal a lot of damages in 12s.

His second asset is...oh yeah, he has TONS of bleeds so you can use this incredible mane and most importantly his damage output doesn't suffer much once you have to flee. Well technically Wolverine never flees but you know, sometimes it's all about tactical warfare, back off to better blow up as one said. 8-|

Third asset, his Ultimate. Combined with savage slash as a spender and enough brutal, Wolverine just destroys anything at close range. Playing with basic powers doesn't help here.

His last asset is that he's really small, but i don't think enemies i encountered in CDRs ever missed him because of that. More seriously, the guy has some brutal in his own kit so he doesn't need that much additional brutal rating to compete. That's good news cause we'll need to make him more durable.

2. Wolverine flaws

His damages are quite lackluster, his kit is a little messy, he doesn't have fluid and faster animations like X23, he's pretty bad at cleaning content and he's also kind of squishy. His signature is outdated.

His uniques are still lacking some precious skill points in some specific powers (savage slash, both sweep or even feral roar).

3. Presentation

First i'm no rusher, no farmer and certainly don't make videos to show how i can run DRs with an awesome glasscannon. I try to balance my characters as much as possible and Danger rooms are a good place to do that. I don't care about how much time i need or how many runs i can do in a hour, i'm only doing them for fun. ;)

So i decided to play Wolverine as a bleeder, i've found him way better at surviving some kind of threats with a lot of dots. I know that many players love to play with Rending sweep, it helps to clean faster but i never found its damage that impressive compared to Bloody sweep, especially if its only purpose is to clean trashes. I prefer to invest into savage claws, large hitbox, decent dps and most importantly low rage cost.

I only use basics to buff myself and apply an additional bleed, nothing else. So i want my Rage to be manageable, feral roar helps a lot with that and since i use it to control my enemies, it's a win-win.

Since only rending sweep applied vulnerability, better be playing with a TU who can deal with that or invest in some Omegas. Tbh i totally forgot about that in my CDRs but nothing went that wrong because of that so...

Wolverine's passives are really bad and awfully scaling. Still you'll need to max his toggle, Chudan-No-Kamae. If you really need Wolverine to be tougher, you can take away some points from Bloody claws and put them into Unstoppable beast for more health recovery. Adamantium skeleton isn't worth much unless you want slightly more damage rating.

I didn't use a TU with a taunt, Wolverine doesn't have any kind of stealth so i didn't bother much with that. If you can find a stealth core it could help (just like i did with Squirrel Girl). I prefered to play with Magik (another Xmen) TU, she's quite useful as a decoy cause her many summons are doing such a mess.

First CDR - Subway Station

As usual bullets never miss. Beware of some scenarios with numerous spawning mobs, if not it's not the worst case scenario.

Challenge: Test of survival and lightning

Survival isn't the easiest feat to achieve on Wolverine, he can die pretty quick. But as long as you still can use medkits and don't met awful close range bosses, everything will be fine.
Lightning helps a lot with ressource management and buffs (more feral roar and wetwork), your signature CD is so ridiculous too.

I had the worst scenario here, annoying as hell minibosses with tons of spawning adds, but i dealt with them. Wolverine isn't the best at cleaning trashes but with enough survivability you can see all of them dying from your bleeds.
Mega Sentinel isn't hard as long as you avoid everything it shoots at you.

Second CDR - Military base

Challenge: Test of survival, duplicate boss and contagious

You take massive damages from ranged plasma gunners but hopefully they can't shoot at you since they're feared most of the time. Keep being mobile, slashing everywhere is what makes Wolverine better at surviving.

Contagious isn't much of an issue with my build, as long as you don't stay much in it, you shouldn't have any trouble with that. LoH and Excalibur combined with dots make you regenerate faster, anytime.

Duplicate Magneto could have been lethal on Wolverine but obviously my skeleton wasn't that metallic after all. ;)

Third CDR - Brood caves

Beware of some completely unbalanced enemies in there. Kill Savants as fast as possible.

Challenge: Test of Skill, gargantuan and contagious

Tons of annoying enemies, some of them being really lethal, Contagion everywhere, a TU who constantly dies and Malekith as a cherry. Enjoy !

No Ultimate isn't good news but if it's on CD you shouldn't care. Wolverine signature doesn't deal that much damage to be really mandatory anyway, if you don't need it for your ressource management (as i do) you shouldn't care.

Fourth CDR - Bamboo Forest

Painful fireballs and ***** ninjas !

Challenge: Test of Blood, Contagion and frenzy

Contagious, once again... I wasn't much lucky on my random scenarios but now no one will say that Wolverine can't run Contagious CDRs. Wolverine doesn't care much about test of blood.

I'll be honest here, Ninjas need a nerf. Frenzied Ninjas need even more nerf. They're dealing way too much damages at melee and there's no way you can't be stunned at least once, it's annoying as hell and i don't even talk about the healing onces. But hey, if someone is the best at dealing with Ninjas, that's Wolverine. Move a lot to avoid most of the serpent-men spells and try to not stay much longer in front of bladed ninjas.

Madam Hydra is a joke, hopefully i didn't have to deal with Mr.Hyde. Luck matters too. ;)

Last CDR as a bonus - Marsh

This one is broken, not because there are far too many mobs in there, not because some of them are dealing too much damages, not because almost all of Marsh bosses are a pain, but because i took too much time obviously and for obscure reasons my comp stopped recording just before the final boss.

Challenge: Test of fortitude, contagious and frenzy

Good news, i achieved this one (it took some time but i did it). Dealing with TONS of enemies who deal lots of damages with Wolverine without a single medkit is... Well, good luck with that.

Final bosses was ManApe if i ain't wrong. He was the easiest part tbh. ^ ^

So Wolverine can achieve CDRs, he's not the easiest nor the toughest one but with enough gear and patience everything is fine. I would only avoid survival challenge in some scenarios with unbalanced stuff. Wolverine isn't oneshot that easily, but since he's not that fast and has to stay at close range risks are way higher than with other toons.

Good luck and have fun in CDRs !
