The TL:DR version... It's boring. Games designers have spent the last decade moving past linear game play and now this rework? Plus adding unskippable cut scenes again.
Why not fix pvp or xdef? Chap 10 addition was a winner.
How about something state of the art like your competitors are innovating for example asymmetrical pvp? There are dozens of other ideas being tried out there to take inspiration from.
I really can't see how the linear game play is going to encourage player retention.
