New and Confused

Okay. So I am new to the game. Been playing basically a month. I think today I just got a chili pepper artifact for logging in. So whatever day that is, that's me.

I have read a lot and asked questions in game, many of which get ignored, but I try to learn as much as I can on my own. The game really needs a better way to find what you are looking for in terms of the gameplay. I have been playing all this time without any idea there was a credit cap, or what that meant. And despite asking several times about what the "Challenge +1 Speed" on my unique item meant...still haven't figured that one out, or the Empty Stark Power Core thing.

But I digress.

I am posting today because I am confused about "boosts". I had a large supply of yellow, purple and green boost items in my limited stash. I read them and when I moused-over the tooltips in game I thought I had it nailed down what they do.

But after using them, I feel maybe I am clueless.

I used two of each so I had a Special Item Boost, Rare Item Boost and a Credit Find Boost on for 4 hours each. I suspected I would see an increase in cosmic items, unique items, eternity splinters and credits that fell as loot. Reading what those stats do under my character stat tab suggested that was what they do. Was that correct?

It sure doesn't seem to be correct. Did I do something wrong, because with those boosts on I did find more credits, but found one unique and two cosmics in the whole four hours. During that time I was running hightown patrol.

I didn't notice the issue until the boosts were gone, and I was still running around Hightown. Every boss fight that ended dropped a unique item. Every chest I opened had a cosmic item fall out. I did collect less credits, but it seemed I had a massive loot upgrade when the boosts were gone. Since the credit boost gave me more money per drop, why didn't the others increase my loot drops? It seemed backwards and now I am even more confused.

So what gives? What do I misunderstand about how these work? I tested it again, last night, and found that I get a unique off every Skrull boss group we defeat when I have no boosts on. But don't get one when I have them on. And I only found artifacts when the boosts were off as well.

Is the idea of the boosts to reduce the rate which such items fall? That seems to me to be the only thing that makes sense right now. Why would someone want less unique and artifact items to fall in loot? If I understood why you'd want that, I guess maybe I wouldn't be so confused.

I appreciate your time and thank you in advance for any responses. I came into the game as a Diablo veteran, but a lot of these systems aren't clear to me.

Thanks.
